What is paint protection film (PPF)?
PPF is a protective film applied over suitable painted surfaces. It creates a replaceable layer that helps reduce exposure to everyday road debris and scuffs. It does not make paint damage-proof or repair existing paint damage.
Should I choose a PPF roll or a pre-cut kit?
A roll supplies uncut material for a measured layout and custom installation. A pre-cut kit supplies patterns for a listed vehicle and panel. Choose rolls when your installer needs bulk film; use the pre-cut finder when you want vehicle-specific patterns. Both formats require preparation and application skill.
What is the difference between gloss and matte PPF?
Gloss gives the covered surface a reflective appearance. Matte gives it a lower-sheen appearance. Consider the look beside uncovered panels, and confirm the selected finish on the product before ordering. The gloss and matte roll listings shown here specify 8 mil film and wet application; check the exact product for its current specifications.
Will one 5 ft × 45 ft roll cover my entire vehicle?
That size describes the material supplied, not guaranteed vehicle coverage. Measure each panel, plan piece orientation and seams, and allow for installation waste. Ask your installer to confirm the layout and required quantity before purchasing.
What does self-healing PPF mean?
The listed films describe recovery of light surface marks with heat under the product’s instructions. This does not mean that cuts, punctures, deep damage or the paint beneath the film will repair themselves. Follow the instructions for the exact film rather than applying a universal heat setting.
Can I install PPF myself?
Experience, workspace, panel shape and the chosen pattern affect the result. Pre-cut film still needs careful preparation and alignment; bulk film also needs a suitable layout. Watch the training material and review the film’s instructions before deciding. Find an installer for complex panels or uncertain paint conditions.
Are installation tools included?
Check the included-items list and selected options on the exact roll or kit. Do not assume that a separate tool kit is included with the film. The PPF tool products below have their own contents and pricing.
How should I care for installed PPF?
Follow the film supplier’s and installer’s directions for curing, the first wash, cleaning products and pressure washing. Keep the product and installation details. If an edge lifts or damage appears, document it and contact support before attempting a repair.
